Thursday and Friday are the final days to catch SMU’s spring playwriting festival featuring staged readings. If you sleep on New Visions, New Voices, chances are you’ll get another chance to see the work of participating Meadows theater students, as past NVNV participants have gone on to bigger stages…but you won’t be able to say you were among the first to see their talent. Thursday features Audrey Gab’s The Happy Place, exploring the idea of happiness through a couple living different possible lives; Nick Cains’ How To Be Black offers a frank take on race and identity on Friday. Performances are at 8 p.m. at the Margo Jones Theatre in the Owen Arts Center, 6101 Bishop Blvd. Tickets are $7 for students and faculty, $10 for seniors–citizens, we presume, not upperclassmen–and $13 for adults.
