Seminar is a comedy that once appeared on Broadway with Alan Rickman (yawn) as the lead. But get this, Rickman was replaced by Jeff Motherfucking Goldblum (opposite-yawn)!! The guy from Jurassic Park!!! OK, I’ll calm down. Seminar was written by Theresa Rebeck and opens at 8 p.m. Thursday at Theatre Three, 2800 Routh St. The story involves four young writers attending a seminar taught by Leonard. Leo used to be a big-deal author, but he’s fallen from grace and is now a big old blowhard foreign correspondent. He revels in ripping their writing to shreds and they fall for it because they’re dumb. Just kidding. It’s because they’re young and he’s larger than life. The show’s official description reads: “Under his recklessly brilliant and unorthodox instruction, some thrive and others flounder, alliances are made and broken, sex is used as a weapon and hearts are unmoored.” Tickets start at $10 and are available now at theater3dallas.com. Performances run through May 18.
Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: April 24. Continues through May 18, 2014
