We’ve always found it easy to rag on George Lopez‘s lame excuse for comedy, but when it comes to the man himself, it’s a bit harder. After all, he’s inarguably one the most influential Latinos in the country, and has won numerous awards for his humanitarian work. Plus, he publicly referred to Jay Leno as “the biggest two-faced dude in TV” and volunteered to switch timeslots so that TBS could bring Conan O’Brien back to late night this fall. He also outed Carlos Mencia for stealing other people’s material and continues to hold a grudge against Erik Estrada for not shaking his hand once in the ’70s. We hate Jay Leno and Carlos Mencia. We’ve never really had much of an opinion on Erik Estrada, but whatever–screw Erik Estrada. So while we’d never sit through an entire set of George Lopez jokes ourselves, we won’t begrudge you the opportunity. So enjoy yourselves when Lopez takes the stage 8 p.m. Friday at the Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, 1001 Performance Place. Tickets are $40 to $60. Visit ticketmaster.com.
