Joel Ferrell, choreographer and director for the upcoming production of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Dallas Theatre Center, is looking for eight unpaid extras to take the stage, and to find them, DTC is holding an open casting call at The Rose Room (3911 Cedar Springs Road) from 3-6 p.m. Saturday. According to DTC’s Facebook page, they’re looking for “gender-benders, the glamorously tattooed, sword and fire swallowers, snake charmers, the unique, the bizarre, the unorthodox, the oh-my-goodness-I-can’t-believe-they-just-did-that-performer.” Which seems quaintly sad, really. How pedestrian. Remember when Rocky Horror used to be considered freaky? You do? Jesus, you’re old. Fifty spots are reserved for auditioners, and you can claim a spot by emailing Laura.Colleluori@DallasTheaterCenter.org. Or you can just go and watch the audition. Bring your mother. She’d probably enjoy a quiet night out.
