The Dallas Symphony Orchestra is reintroducing its popular ReMix series, with the first installment of the 2014-15 season debuting this weekend: Song of the Symphony. With a casual environment and earlier start times, ReMix offers patrons a chance to enjoy classical music in a more social context, which, on this occasion, includes pre-concert karaoke. Song of the Symphony will see the DSO, alongside Grammy-winning Soprano Jessica Rivera, perform a series of orchestral and vocal works, all with an emphasis on celebrating the melodicism of song. Guest Nicholas Carter conducts a program that includes Mozart, Holst, Rachmaninoff, Gershwin and more. Performances take place on October 17 and 18 (7:00 PM) at Dallas City Performance Hall.
