Forget Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Small Business Saturday is the most important one. The Saturday after Thanksgiving is when you throw up a giant middle finger to places like Wal-mart and Sears and head down the street to some local mom and pop shops instead to support your community. The first Small Business Saturday event is at Community Beer Company when the Design District Market takes over. There will be plenty of beer and food trucks and some holiday movies and football showing on big screens to round it out. If you ride your bike or walk or take the DART to the event, you get $5 off a T-shirt. Another Small Business Saturday event is at Unbranded on Elm Street and each purchase includes gift packaging and custom calligraphy. Food trucks will be there, as well as free beer. Yes. Free beer.

Sat., Nov. 29, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., 2014
