Fort Worth’s Hentai Improvising Orchestra, a loose and unrehearsed collective of sound and noise artists who bang, buzz and blare away on an endless array of instruments, never seem to have the same lineup twice. So with flexibility and spontaneity mandated by the very nature of the band, who better to host a series of collaborations with like-minded musicians who set up on stage and just see (and hear) what happens? Improvised Silence takes place the last Sunday of the month at Fort Worth’s The Cellar on Berry Street, and January’s installment includes two other Cowtown players, multifaceted stringed instrumentalist Darrin Kobetich on sitar and Giri Akkaraju on mridangum and percussion. Future editions will highlight everything from electronics to bass to spoken word.
