Each week City of Ate will give you the lowdown on a local happy hour
in Quittin’ Time, with the details and why you should or shouldn’t take
up the featured bar or restaurant on its drink specials.
Where: Ozona Grill & Bar, 4615 Greenville Ave., 214-265-9105
When: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday through Friday
What: $1 off all drinks, plus additional all-day drink deals including $2 wells on Thursdays, $2 house margaritas on Mondays, $1.50 domestic longnecks on Tuesdays and $1 domestic drafts on Wednesdays.
Why: Because if this isn’t patio weather, we don’t know what is. And even if it starts getting chilly, Ozona’s patio — a 2004 Best of Dallas winner and frequent Readers Choice — has a pair of fireplaces by which you can warm your bones.
The drink discounts and patio aren’t the only things Ozona has going for it. There’s the chicken-fried steak, a favorite among diners in a city that knows a thing or two about CFS. And there’s the creamy queso dip and other Tex-Mex platters, discounted on Mondays with a buy one, get the second at half-price deal.
But the patio — which seems to go on and on with tables hidden away in tree-lined nooks and crannies of varying size, and which has its own bar and TV screens — is what makes us feel at home every time we visit. Or maybe that’s just the $2 wells talking.
