The new restaurant and bar Nickel And Rye, at 2523 McKinney Ave., smartly opens today to accommodate the throngs of TX/OU revelers who will hit Uptown at any moment. This “libations and hashery” spot is located in the old Uptown Bar and Grill space and is owned by the group behind Woodfire Kirby’s on Greenville, Kirby’s Steakhouse in Southlake and Mickey Mantle’s Steakhouse in Oklahoma.
Over the past several months, the space has undergone some major renovations, including a remake of the patio out front. There’s not a lot else out there about it other than a picture of chicken-fried ribs on Facebook and a gold-studded wingback bar stool, and an early note that they will have a nice selection of scotch.
Nickel and Rye will open at 3 p.m. today and on Saturday at 10 a.m. It will then close for the week and then open again next Friday, October 18, for good.
