Mexican Sugar is a new restaurant opening in The Shops at Legacy in Plano this November. Created and developed by the management group Fork It Over LLC, which also owns Whiskey Cake and Velvet Taco, this spot will focus on dishes from Central and South America, anchored Mexican food.

Mexican Sugar will also have a tequila library with more than 100 different tequilas and mezcals, and according to a Craigslist now-hiring post will feature South American wine and Latin cocktails on tap.

Jack Gibbons, owner of Fork It Over, recently told the Dallas Business Journal that he’s looking for an escape from hefty Tex-Mex plates and Mexican Sugar will take a healthy approach to Mexican food. We’ll leave the irony of the restaurant’s name here on the table for you to sort out.

Described as “as smart, stylish hacienda design meets the definitive southwest tequila library,” Mexican Sugar will use local ingredients, fresh fish and a wood grill to create a menu of handmade everything.
