Something called the Business Travel Coalition, run by some dude who used to be a VP of Human Resources at CIGNA Corp., wants to shut down Love Field. Maybe I’d pay more attention if the group, if that’s really what it is, wasn’t based out of Radnor, Pennsylvania (I don’t know, either). Yesterday, the BTC published a report (by which I mean they put it on the Internet) suggesting five options to the resolution of the Wright Amendment battle, insisting the most viable would be to shut down Love Field gradually over the next three years. It would “[allow] for 100% of the benefits from the best-practice model of avoiding rivalries among same-market airports once strategy has been set for regional aviation infrastructure development,” said the report, which, if I read it right, says in a nutshell that competition is bad, which can’t be right. Seriously, you stop bothering us, and we won’t go to fancy-pants Radnor, PA, and hassle you. –Robert Wilonsky
