$10,000

At this very moment T. Boone Pickens is in New York City, where today he reiterated to reporters at a Forbes-sponsored energy confab that he’s tapping the brakes on his wind farm in the Texas Panhandle. But he insisted the slowdown on the $10-billion project has nothing to do with the falling price of natural gas, which he told folks yesterday in Arizona. Nope, says the Dallas billionaire, it’s all about not getting flattened by the credit crunch. Said T. Boone of the delay: “When you’re talking financing — big financing — well, those talks have ceased because nobody has any money.”

Also on Pickens’ to-do list today: an appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, which airs tonight. But if you miss it, fret not — I feel a Thursday-morning Unfair Park item coming on. –Robert Wilonsky
