We never knew we needed a Saved by the Bell-themed bagel shop in our lives, but you know what – we’re here for it.
Saved by the Bagel, a bagel shop specializing in hand-rolled bagels and sandwiches, debuted in late 2024 near the corner of Independence and Legacy in Plano. The shop is themed after the late ’80s and early ’90s teen sitcom Saved by the Bell, a series we watched religiously after school.
While we didn’t spot Zack Morris, Kelly Kapowski, or A.C. Slater (though there was a Principal’s Office, so it’s totally plausible that Richard Belding was behind that door), we did see plenty of Saved by the Bagel’s true starring cast: bagels. Lots of portly-sized New York-style bagels of different kinds, all made onsite.

Saved by the Bagel debuted in late December.

Some of the bagels you can find here include plain, cinnamon raisin, sea salt, onion, sesame, jalapeno cheddar, chocolate chip, poppy seed and Saved by the Bagel’s everything bagel. A couple of gluten-free options (plain and everything) are also available. You can get a half-dozen for $12.50 or a baker’s dozen for $21 and schmear for $2.50 (3-ounce) or $6 (half-pound).
While we love a good old plain bagel drenched in cream cheese as much as the next person, we were most excited about the shop’s bagel sandwiches. Before we walked through the doors, we had a couple of targets, starting with the Avocado Smash ($9) with avocado, feta, tomato and egg white.

The Lox (lox, scallion schmear, tomato, pickled onions and capers).

Let us tell you something about Saved by the Bagel: They don’t skimp. The bagels are big and doughy and there was ample avocado, feta and egg. If you were hungry before, you won’t be after.
Next, we had The Lox. The $18.50 price tag will raise eyebrows, but smoked salmon isn’t exactly cheap (a 4-ounce package at Tom Thumb is 10 bucks). And again, this was a huge bagel sandwich. It comes absolutely loaded with smoked salmon lox, plus tomatoes, pickled onions, capers and scallion schmear.
There’s also a bacon (or sausage if you prefer), egg and cheese bagel sandwich. For regular lunch sandwich offerings, there’s The Reuben (pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut and Russian dressing), turkey club, BLT avocado, chicken salad sandwich and tuna melt.
