West Village, the pedestrian-oriented shopping center in Uptown Dallas, is getting two new faces later this year: Hudson House and D.L. Mack’s, both of Vandelay Hospitality.

Vandelay Hospitality is a locally owned hospitality group also behind Drake’s Hollywood, Bar Sardine, Jack & Harry’s and Anchor Sushi Bar.

A cheeseburger worth bragging about.

Hudson House originally debuted in 2017 and has been a staple in Dallas since. It’s known for serving East Coast comfort food in an upscale atmosphere and the “world’s coldest martini.” Its cheeseburger has a cult following. (Editor’s note: so does its mac and cheese.)

It’s opening in the former Hugo’s Invitados space at 3699 McKinney Ave., featuring a whopping 5,600 square feet of fresh oysters and timeless dining.

The West Village opening will mark the seventh Hudson House location in North Texas.

Just try to find a thinner pizza crust in Dallas.

D.L. Mack’s is a true Chicago-style outpost with the proper tavern-style pizza and nostalgic details to match. We had a Chicagolander give it a try; you can read her review of the Harry Caray pizza, Italian sandwich and mozzarella sticks.

There are only two other D.L. Mack’s locations, one in Preston Hollow and the original in University Park. The third will be its Uptown Dallas debut in West Village, occupying 4,600 square feet in the former Medici space at 3699 McKinney Ave., Suite 106.

According to Vandelay’s website, its brands are unique concepts made real with the community at the forefront, “often reviving former food and beverage spaces to match and add to the character of the neighborhood.” Every concept is designed to fit a specific theme through the design and menus.

El Molino, the group’s first Mexican concept, is slated to open this summer in the former Douglas Bar and Grill space, which closed in March 2024.
