As much food as we have in North Texas, it’s amazing the gaps we have in grocery stores.

The popular Asian grocery chain H Mart opened its first location in Dallas today at 2534 Royal Lane near Harry Hines Boulevard in the heart of Koreatown.

H Mart started as a small corner store in Woodside, Queens, New York, in 1982 and has grown to about 100 stores across the U.S. The H stands for the founder’s name, Han Ah Reum. There are two other North Texas H Marts in Plano and Carrollton.

This new Dallas store is over 70,000 square feet and has a Paris Baguette inside for a caffeinated break, should you need one.

Gov. Greg Abbott designated Koreatown Dallas — on Royal Lane between Harry Hines and Luna Road — in 2023. The Dallas City Council approved a $4 million economic incentive to support this H Mart location.

H Mart is known for its wide variety of Asian groceries, including fresh produce, live seafood and other proteins, along with pantry staples like sauces, noodles and seasonings. There is also a mind-bending amount of prepared food.

Below is the H Mart on Harry Hines food hall lineup:

  • Oh K-Dog and Egg Toast
  • Don Chicken
  • JAWS Topokki (Korean street food, rice cake)
  • So Kong Dong (tofu soup and barbecue)
  • It’s Katsu
  • Paik’s Noodles
  • Tang Korean Food (soup house)
