What a year it’s been. And now we’re setting out to raise $30,000 to power our newsroom.

We are rolling out our year-end campaign at the Dallas Observer. By Dec. 31, we aim to raise $30,000 to power our work into the new year. It’s a bold goal, but we believe we can achieve it with the support of the readers who have long supported us in our mission to tell our community’s stories, big and small.

Our theme for this drive is “When news happens, Dallas Observer is there.” Time and time again, the Dallas Observer has stepped up in periods of change, challenge and opportunity. We help our readers make sense of uncertainty, focus on what matters most and prepare for what’s ahead.

That was especially true this year.

There’s certainly no shortage of uncertainty and a fair amount of worry about where Texas and the nation are headed, as threats to liberty mount and divisions deepen. That’s one reason we’re here, keeping watch on authorities as they watch all of us more and more, as reported in our story about a North Texas county’s use of traffic surveillance cameras to track a woman who had an abortion.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If the Dallas Observer matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

Though we’re small, we’re there when the news is breaking fast, as with our coverage of the shooting at a local ICE facility.

While we strive to explain the effects of national trends on the Dallas community, some of our proudest moments are homegrown, when we “comfort the afflicted,” as we did with a story about a family threatened with losing their home, victims of the growing problem of deed fraud.

But we also take pride in celebrating our community, whether through our annual Best of Dallas issue, our coverage of local artists who are telling the city’s story or reporting about the business owners who shape the city’s character.

These aren’t just headlines. They serve as reminders of why we do this work. Every time our community faces a pivotal moment, we show up ready to report with accuracy, empathy and depth.

The contributions we bring in through this program help us remain sustainable. Every gift brings us closer to our $30,000 goal and will help us serve our community even better in 2026.

Thank you for being part of that community. This work doesn’t happen without you.
