Chicago-Style Pizza Tavern to Open in West Village This Week

The Chicago-inspired tavern, DL Mack’s, will open its third Dallas restaurant in the West Village this Wednesday, March 4. The restaurant will take over the former Midici space. The menu, which is focused on tavern-style pie, will include a few items not available at other restaurants.

DL Mack’s is part of Vandelay Companies, which owns Hudson House, which also just opened a location in the West Village. Vandelay also recently acquired the West Dallas ramen spot, Ten Ramen, which will open in the West Village later this year.

Menu Highlights

DL Mack’s is known for its superior Chicago-born pizza option: tavern-style with a cracker-like crust. Who needs all that dough in the deep dish? A few of the highlights from the pizza menu include:

• Chicago Special: pepperoni, onion, jalapeno and Mike’s Hot Honey
• The Spicy Vodka: ZaZa sauce, basil and pickled Chicago peppers
• Return of the Mack: Italian Sausage, giardiniera and caramelized onions

The menu also has a section for starters, chopped salads, sandwiches and house specialities (salmon, Red Fish and Greek chicken and peppers). The deviled eggs and spick rigatoni are also crowd favorites.

New Bites

Jalapeno Queso Dip is exactly what you think of when envisioning a Chicago tavern, right? We’re not quibbling about queso, though. Bring it on. Although the description says it’s served “chilled.” There’s also a new hickory burger with grilled chicken burger (yes, it says “chicken burger’) and a truffle burger with truffle aioli. Sure.

All the Beverages

DL Mack’s wants to be your new friendly neighborhood tavern, so they’ve got plenty of cocktail options. Look for American classics like ice-cold martinis, old fashioneds, margs and a gimlet. A Lemon Drop Martini has lemon vodka and Limoncello foam. The Southside martini has gin, lime and muddled mint.

Happy Hour

Happy hour at DL Mack’s runs daily (yes, the weekend too), from 4 to 6 p.m. at the bar. Get $10 martinis and half-price wine.
