He has an unassuming delivery, so you don’t expect Los Angeles comedian Tom Segura to bring the belly laughs. Then, while you’re waiting for him to build up, he blindsides you with a jab about the cannibalistic curse of face tattoos. His punch lands, right in the gut. A self-professed C student, Segura has an eye for the absurd and a knack for turning the quasi-obvious into a meandering narrative, laced with comedic tripwires. He isn’t afraid to approach a story with the long grift either; he’ll go the distance for a plot-twist punch line. Be weary of his deviant approach when you see Tom Segura at Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub in Fort Worth (425 Commerce St., Fort Worth). Friday’s showtimes are 8:30 and 10:30 p.m., and tickets range $10 to $15. Visit hyenascomedynightclub.com.
