Martin Luther King Jr. was 5 years old when James Farmer Jr. was initiating the beginning efforts of the Civil Rights Movement. After his first sit-in at a Chicago coffee shop in 1943, Farmer co-founded the Congress of Racial Equality, to which many Southern college students turned during the 1960s. In observance of Black History Month, UNT will show his biographical documentary, which was produced, directed and edited by a UNT alumna. The free screening of The Good Fight: James Farmer Remembers the Civil Rights Movement starts 7 p.m. Thursday at the University’s Denton campus.
