Remember when you were in third grade and one stray toot enveloping the classroom was enough to keep the whole class buzzing for hours? You tried to deduce who did it. Then you discussed all the other memorable gas clouds you could think of (like what the dog did last night). It was the most entertaining thing ever. And indeed, the human body does offer an impressive number of SNAFUS that blow kids’ minds AND offer some learning opportunities for the little tykes. Scabs are a nice segue into the fascinating science of clotting. Snot? Time to talk about immune responses! Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body lets the kids yuck it up with fart humor galore and an actual climbable scab wall (I died a little as I typed that), but emphasizes the physiology of it all. So, you know, it’s not bad manners, Mom. It’s science! Visit the exhibit through September 3 at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon until 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is included with regular museum tickets, which are $14 for adults, $10 for children ages 2 to 12 and seniors.
