You’ll be tapping your foot to the African beat of drums in Karen Abbott’s production of Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters, a story written by John Steptoe and being performed at the Dallas Children’s Theater. It’s Cinderella with a twist: Switch the two menacing step-sisters with a vain stuck-up biological one, and the fairy godmother with a snake who can morph into a boy and an old lady. (Like that’s not creepy.) Oh, and Cinderella stand-in Nyasha’s father is alive, though with the trouble following him he’d probably be comfortable less alive. Tickets start at $18. Fridays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: July 6. Continues through July 15, 2012
