One great thing about the digital age is that even the most obscure failed TV shows are now available on DVD. You can’t call it “obscure,” but one of my favorite cancelled TV shows is now out on DVD. Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist was one of the funniest cartoons on the tube when it ran on Comedy Central from 1995 to 1999. I still remember performances—delivered in the guise of psychoanalysis sessions—by comic greats like Dave Chapelle and Mitch Hedberg. One less-than-memorable performance was that of Ian Bagg. The funniest joke from his appearance was “I want to marry a girl that’s already got a kid. That way when he asks a question I don’t want to answer, I can say ‘Go ask your dad, you little bastard.'” Bagg has a good line or two, but his accent is so irritating and confusing that it’s hard to enjoy the delivery. He’s Canadian, yet sounds like Irish golf analyst David Feherty—who is much funnier. Bagg performs Wednesday through Sunday at the Addison Improv, 4980 Belt Line Road. Tickets are $15.
