I don’t know what twinkling, multi-colored bulbs have to do with the holiday season, except that our culture has strung them together from, say, oh…the dawn of time. None-the-less, I am appreciative. Because, when standing in the midst of thousands of glimmeries, clad head to toe in fleece and with the crisp wind rosying my cheeks, I relish the romance and magic of it all. Manufactured or otherwise. The Fair Park Holiday Lights festival takes place from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Special events of note are the tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday with a candle-lighting ceremony honoring the military at the same time. The Dallas Wind Symphony will be performing holiday concerts at 4:30 p.m. both days as well. Visit fairpark.org for more info.
Sat., Dec. 13, 3-8 p.m.; Sun., Dec. 14, 3-8 p.m., 2008
