Butch Lord is no Bill Hicks, but reality-show comic Theo Von is about as funny as a dead puppy. A typical Lord performance includes a few stoner war stories, like being pulled over with weed in his pocket and enjoying the drug dog’s exasperation with the cops who make him fruitlessly sniff the car. Lord’s mildly funny tales make Von sound like a typical Louisiana loudmouth dumb-ass. One bit involves a few jokes “about” stereotypes—really, just racist jokes told from a flimsy ironic remove. Then he’ll add, “But I’m not racist, because I’m half black. From the waist down…That’s right; I don’t have any money in my pocket.” Performances are 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m., 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. Saturday at Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub in Arlington, 2525 E. Arkansas Lane. Tickets are $10 to $15. Call 817-226-5233.
Fri., Oct. 26, 8:30 & 10:30 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 27, 7, 9 & 11 p.m., 2007
