I have a confession to make. Ready? Back when I was 13 or so, I had a major boner for the Gin Blossoms. Not an “Oh my god, they’re so hot!” boner, but rather a good, old-fashioned man-crush boner. And while I can’t say I’ve given New Miserable Experience a listen in at least a decade or so, I could probably still mumble my way through admirable karaoke versions of hits like “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You,” “Allison Road” and “Until I Fall Away.” Honestly, I could probably even sing them a cappella, sans lyrics (Don’t judge me). Unfortunately for the Gin Blossoms, my boner subsided many years ago, so you’re not likely to find me at their show Friday at the Glass Cactus, 1501 Gaylord Trail in Grapevine, even though I’ve never seen them. Not even once. And somehow, strangely enough, I’ve been able to go on with my life. Oh yeah, remember The Rembrandts? You know, the band famous for that theme song from Friends (Clap. Clap. Clap. Clap. Clap.) and absolutely nothing else? They’ll be there for you too. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $25. Visit ticketmaster.com.
