Imagine going through life shunned by society, enduring drug addiction, homelessness or prostitution, just hoping the afterlife turns out better than this one. Jesus kicked it with hookers and tax collectors, and even told a crucified thief he’d go to Heaven, so surely he’ll accept you, right? Then you croak and find you’re a reject in Purgatory, too. Ha ha! That’s the premise of Heaven Forbid(s), a series of comic monologues and sketches examining the similarities between outcasts and those who try to ignore them. Heaven is the latest from Martice Enterprises, producers of Latinologues and the Pico De Gallo series. Performances are 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays Friday through September 1 at the Ice House Cultural Center, 1004 W. Page St. Tickets are $20 and $15 for Thursday shows and students. Call 214-750-7435 or visit martice.com.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Aug. 3. Continues through Sept. 1
