What history will say about George W. Bush is yet to be determined, but in the past few years he’s grown pretty damn good at painting puppies. Last year on Jay Leno, he brought up his art teacher to whom he said, “There’s a Rembrandt trapped in this body…your job is to find it.” In April, at the Presidential Library and conservative think tank on SMU’s campus, the world, or at least Dallas, will be able to see the results of Dubya’s tireless efforts toward masterpiece.
From the looks of it, the 43rd President’s first art exhibit won’t be pictures of puppies though. The Art of Leadership: A President’s Personal Diplomacy will feature two dozen portraits painted by President Bush. According to the press release, the exhibit “will explore the relationships that President George W. Bush forged with world leaders to shape international policy and advance American interests abroad.” Although the announcement didn’t contain any specifics, an educated guess would be that the portraits are of dignitaries he worked with. Perhaps Condi or Dick?
But we’re wondering if just maybe his mastery of painting canines leaks into these portraits. Tony Blair as a poodle, anyone? Anyway, we can rest assured the exhibit won’t include his intimate bathtub portraits.
