Sorry to tell you this, dudes, but the Girl Show isn’t what the title implies. But just because it isn’t yet another burlesque show doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy it. Female artistic expression doesn’t always have to involve tasseled pasties, you know. This ArtLoveMagic (wasn’t that a Chili Peppers album?) event features some 40 artists and performers, ranging from sculptors to photographers to poets to fashion designers. Unlike some art shows, Girl Show is interactive, with artists creating and performing their work on site rather than hanging a painting and hiding behind wine glasses. Among the musicians will be Iris Leu, the wildly talented pianist and songwriter, who performs Saturday. Peep the Girl Show 8 p.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday at Life In Deep Ellum, 2803 Taylor St. Tickets are $10 per night or $15 for both nights at artlovemagic.com.
Fri., Aug. 7, 8 p.m.-midnight; Sat., Aug. 8, 8 p.m.-midnight, 2009
