There is a big problem with words like “biennial.” How can a word mean both “every two years” and “lasting for two years?” This sort of lazy word defining is what really gets my goat. Come on, English, you’re better than that! If, for example, you attend the biennial exhibition Second Program at Conduit Gallery, 1626 C Hi Line Drive, don’t be thinking it’ll be there for two years, or that it will be back later this year. This is the second time they’ve hosted The Program, which is a collection of contemporary video art, and the last time was two years ago. See how that works?
