The Hobbit may have been the epic movie that every movie buff just had to see this holiday season, but it required almost three hours of your life. The Texas Theatre has a way to experience true cinema in a much shorter form. The movie house is bringing eight award-winning short films from the Sundance Film Festival to its theater Thursday through Sunday. They include an interesting mix of live action and animated drama and comedy such as Jenni Tolvoniemi’s The Date and Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash that are bound to satisfy any movie buff’s varied tastes. The Texas Theatre is located at 231 W. Jefferson Blvd. Visit thetexastheatre.com for show times and tickets.

Fridays-Sundays. Starts: Dec. 27. Continues through Dec. 29, 2013
