I haven’t read Kathy Peel’s latest book, Busy Mom’s Guide to a Happy, Organized Home: Fast Solutions to Hundreds of Everyday Dilemmas, but I can tell from the title (and the woman pictured on the cover, a cross between Martha Stewart and Hillary Clinton) that it would bore the crap out of me. A better title would be Drinking Mom’s Guide to a Happy, Chaotic Home: Everyday Dilemmas Happen Every Day, So Ignore Them. It would have tips like pairing wines with frozen lasagnas and Panburger Partner, advice on making trash heaps in the house less noticeable, and suggestions for covering up the smell of a kid who hasn’t bathed in three days so some nosy, busybody teacher doesn’t call CPS. I’ll offer title suggestions to Mrs. Peel 7 p.m. Wednesday at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Park, 7700 W. Northwest Highway. Call 214-739-1124.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?
At the Dallas Observer, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $14,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of the Dallas Observer, now’s the time to give back.
