It was in that transition to chapter books that we first discovered her: Judy Blume had all the answers. Getting picked on at school? Pick up Blubber. Feeling exceptionally overshadowed by your sibling and uprooted by your parent’s shift in careers? Snag Superfudge. And yeah. That other thing that started happening to you. Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret had those answers, too. She was like the cool aunt that you never sent a thank you card to, but tonight you can, sorta. Blume is speaking at 7 p.m. Thursday as part of the DMA’s Arts and Letters Live series at the First United Methodist Church, 1923 Ross Avenue. Tickets range $10 to $16, so buy a ticket, show up, and let Judy Blume know how much she’s meant to you.
