Cowgirls aren't easy to love, and they're harder to hold, but it's that rebel, pioneer spirit that keeps the West just a little bit wild. You may not be able to lasso one of these ladies, but you can take a gander at their culture and lifestyle during the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame's Heart of the West art exhibition. The all-woman show features 22 artists from as far away as Battle Lake, Minnesota, and as close as Grapevine, Texas. Their works include a variety of images of the American West, such as Sonya Terpening’s "Goin' for It," which depicts a barrel racer and her horse kicking up dust and captures the excitement of rounding that last barrel. Heart of the West is open Friday through March 7 at 1720 Gendy St. in Fort Worth. Tickets are $7 to $8. The Heart of the West art sale is March 2 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $100.
