A master-planned community first established in 1974, The Woodlands takes its name from the 28,000 forested acres where it was developed. Located less than 30 miles north of downtown Houston, this family-friendly, low-crime community has become a desirable location for people looking to live their best lives deep in the heart of Texas.
The Woodlands is part of a larger pattern of growth in the Lone Star State. In recent years, Texas has become one of the fastest-growing states in the nation, with over half a million people added to the population since 2023. The Houston metropolitan area, which includes The Woodlands, accounts for a significant portion of that growth. All of this expansion has attracted new companies and fueled a demand for moving and relocation services.
Let’s Get Moving, a business founded in 2010 in Toronto by then-19-year-old college student Tiam Behdarvandan, expanded into the United States in 2023, opening its first franchise in Houston.
Having built a strong reputation for customer-focused honesty and reliability, Let’s Get Moving has now added The Woodlands to its U.S. locations.
Behdarvandan is big on the Lower 48’s largest state. “I personally love Texas,” he says, “and so do a lot of other people. It’s a growing market.”
While CEO Behdarvandan actively oversees strategic direction and expansion of the company, he knows the moving business from top to bottom. “I had to really do every aspect of it,” he laughs. “The moving, the driving, sales, customer service. I was wearing 20 different hats. Now I just work on giving the hats to the right people so they can focus on that specialty and on that department.”
Let’s Get Moving offers full-service moving solutions in Houston and The Woodlands, including local residential moves, commercial and office relocations, professional packing/unpacking, furniture disassembly and reassembly, temporary and long-term storage, specialty moving (pianos, antiques, artwork), junk removal, and moving supplies.
Right now, the company is operating in 13 states while looking for new locations and quality franchise owners. “We do the hard stuff, the back end, marketing — the things that it took us the longest to learn when growing the business,” says Behdarvandan. “All [franchisees] have to worry about are just the fun parts — hiring the movers and the truck, conducting the job.”
For Texans (or soon-to-be Texans) contemplating a residential move, Behdarvandan has some tips for a smooth and affordable experience. “The most important thing is being ready, having everything boxed up, and not having things sticking out of the boxes,” he advises. “Clear a path. Then the movers can come in, stack everything, and roll everything out quickly and efficiently, which makes it easier on everyone.”
