I’ve covered the border, immigration, Mexico and Latin America for more than 20 years. Most recently, I’ve reported on migration, humanitarian crises, border militarization and migrant deaths for USA TODAY and the El Paso Times, earning recognition as the Texas Managing Editors’ Star Reporter in 2021. I’ve been the recipient of a National Geographic Explorers grant and a fellowship with the McGraw Center for Business Journalism at CUNY.
