Update March 4: This story has been edited to remove information about The Taco Museum that was to be held in Fort Worth on March 1. There’s been widespread questions about the quality of the event and we can’t find any information about the event in Fort Worth.
For thousands of years of human civilization, the feast has served as a symbol of great wealth and power, at times a harbinger of those things to come. Piles of food, alcohol spilling out of cups, entertainment and partying into the night, all of which come in celebration of a shared victory or conquest among those participating.
When it comes to an event of that magnitude in North Texas, it can only involve two things: tacos and margaritas. Three big festivals celebrating tacos, alcohol and all of the Texan celebrations are on their way this spring. Here’s where to go to grub.
Patron Presents the Irving Taco & Margarita Festival
Saturday, May 3Let’s be honest, most of us aren’t going to a taco festival if there aren’t margaritas involved. Patron Tequila knows this. Hosted at Toyota Music Factory, the Irving Taco & Margarita festival will be held on Saturday, May 3. Rather than all-you-can-eat tacos, this festival is organized by individual sampling and meal tickets available for purchase.
A $31 sampling ticket gets you three drink tickets and two food tickets, good for samples of margaritas and a choice of tacos, elote, paletas or other items. For $36, a VIP admission gets you four drink tickets and three food tickets. There will be 10+ vendors at the festival, along with a beer garden, live music and a raffle for a trip to Mexico. A portion of all proceeds goes to the Alexiam Foundation benefitting children’s charities.
Tacos and Tequila Festival
Saturday, May 17 The most elaborate taco pageantry will be found at the Tacos and Tequila Festival in Fort Worth. Set for May 17, the event is strictly 21+ and compensates for its steep $59 general admission price with some outrageous festivities. Between the food and drink, the event boasts a music lineup featuring Busta Rhymes, Timbaland and Trick Daddy alongside a Texan carnival of Lucha Libre wrestling, an exotic car showcase and a chihuahua beauty pageant. Similar to the Taco Museum, Tacos and Tequila tours around the country each summer. The festivities will be at the Panther Island Pavilion in Fort Worth.
