Brick and Bones is a cool dive bar in Deep Ellum with great drinks, easy service and a small yet fantastic menu of Mexican-inspired fried chicken that will set your soul on fire.

The bar has been along Elm Street for 10 years in an old building that highlights the history, grunge and eclectic energy of the neighborhood.

Hidden Friends

Recently, it announced it’s moving one block over to Commerce Street. They said while they’ve had a great time on Elm, the move to Commerce will put the bar in a more food-focused part of the neighborhood, near Dot’s, Angry Dog, St. Pete’s, Adair’s Saloon, Cane Rosso, Hibiki Sushi and Ruins.

Editor's Picks

“We see our relocation within Deep Ellum as a fresh start on a revamped, yet historic street in the district that we love and that has been home for a decade,” general manager Nick Peterson says.

The new Commerce Street digs will have a recessed and covered patio, a new amenity for the bar. Perhaps even better, it’s directly across from a five-story parking garage.

During the summer, the street in front of the Elm Street location is sometimes closed at night to prevent cruising and to allow Dallas cops to patrol the area. In this new location, they’ll be on a soon-to-be-finished, freshly paved road that won’t be shut down.

The new location will also have TVs for game days and an expanded menu to include wings and fries.

Moving Day Party

Brick and Bones is throwing a moving-day party on Oct. 9 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. It will have live music, a DJ, free food and giveaways. Be sure to RSVP. No word on if they’re going to ask you to “pick up the other end of that couch real quick.” (I would, but my lower back is bad.)
