Dallas is chock-full of great coffee shops, no matter what Era you’re in (yes, we put together a list of Swiftie-reminiscent cafes). And just in time for National Coffee Day (Sept. 29), Yelp released its list of the Top 100 Coffee Shops in the U.S. for 2025.
Yelp identified businesses in the Coffee & Tea category nationwide and ranked them based on the volume and ratings of their reviews. To ensure geographic diversity, they limited it to five businesses per metro area.
This is interesting, considering only one Dallas-Fort Worth metro business (from Grand Prairie) made No. 80 on the list: Billie Joe Coffee. Huh?
Forgive us, Billie Joe, we have never heard of you, but it appears we should have by now.
The Scoop on Billie Joe
This espresso stop just south of EpicCentral (near Ikea in Grand Prairie) opened in 2021. Owner Billie Joe is a chef turned small-batch specialty coffee roaster using single-origin and direct-trade beans to make his espresso-based drinks.
Once you see the menu, this spotlight on the Yelp list starts to make sense for the uninformed (us). The Cracker Jack latte is flavored with toffee crunch and butterscotch. The Campfire has house-toasted marshmallow syrup and is served with the flamed sticky-sweet on top.
The signature drinks section has a Sands of Time coffee drink made with pistachio, cardamom and orange blossom. They also have a rum drink that features caramelized banana and rum essence.
In addition to all of that, Billie Joe runs a “rotating experimental drink & food menu,” which includes a matcha colada (pineapple, ceremonial grade matcha, and coconut clouds). He also had a Basque cheesecake over the summer. It appears we have a road trip in store.
Other coffee shops in Texas that made the list were No. 76, The Bull Shack Coffee and Smoothies in Livingston, No. 92, Dawn Donuts in Houston and, No. 50, Theory Coffee Company from San Antonio.
Yaw Farm Coffee Roaster, out of Las Vegas, made No. 1 on the list. 1022 Cafe & Gelateria in Oceanside, California, came in at No. 2 and Rainbeau Jo’s in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii, took the No. 3 spot.
In the roundup, Yelp also featured some coffee trends: Matcha is still wiping the floor with other espresso-based drinks, then banana lattes and einspanners (a Viennese coffee with an espresso base and a layer of sweetened cream) are up 1,145% compared to last year.
