There’s a lot of discussion about what Deep Ellum needs. More residential space, more retail, better restaurants, fewer kids, a grocery store. What KJ and the donut lady decided it needed wasn’t on anybody’s list, but there’s certainly not another one in the neighborhood: 24-hour coffee and donuts. The donuts aren’t that terrific (the plain glazed ones were slightly undercooked, but the cinnamon twist was pretty good). But they are the only ones, and that counts for a lot. There’s live music Friday and Saturday nights, too, but of course, the neighborhood has plenty of that.
