Thanks to the folks at Visit Fort Worth, we got a little look into where Leon Bridges most likes to eat and drink around the city (we already know where he likes to busk). And you know what? He’s got great taste. No big surprise there. In a very slick spot, he takes us through them, so we’re going to take you through his picks and tell you if you should eat and drink there, too.
OG Burgers
First up is Kincaid’s Hamburgers, which has been around since 1946. Bridges is in the O.G. location on Camp Bowie Boulevard, at an indoor picnic table with a red-and-white checked tablecloth. This is a great place to go with a big group of folks and the burgers are old-school — it’s not a smash and the buns aren’t fancy. They are huge. Bridges says he prefers to order a bacon cheeseburger with extra pickles, a side of fries and a vanilla shake. The fries here aren’t our favorite, and we like to go with a side of fried okra instead. There are so many options to sub fries at this spot, it’s worth exploring them.
Upscale Hotel Bar
Next up on Bridges’ list is the bar at the Bowie House hotel. It’s an excellent choice. The vibes are immaculate and the art, pulled from the personal collection of rancher, award-winning horsewoman, and developer Jo Ellard, who is also the hotel’s owner, is delightfully chaotic. The bar always has a light bites menu and a seasonal collection of drinks, which is just what you should expect from a fancy hotel bar. You and Leon Bridges are coming here for the rustic, luxurious, and cowboy-infused decor. As a side note, the hotel restaurant, Bricks and Horses, is right off the bar and it’s killer too.
Dive Bar Vibes
Finally, Bridges takes us to the Down ‘n Out, a place that looks like the kind of dive that’s been around a while, but it’s relatively new, having just opened in 2024. It’s already one of Fort Worth’s favorite karaoke spots, but it’s also a great place to play a game of pool with a bottle of beer. Serious drinkers can imbibe the Big Ass Boot, a $25 sharable cocktail for up to four people served in, you guessed it, a big ass boot. Or, you know, go for the frozen Mountain Dew margarita. There is also dancing, which is why Bridges goes. But we’re way too uncoordinated for that.
