Eater Dallas posted an interview on Wednesday about a new East Dallas retail craft beer store that is the brainchild of Matt Tobin and Josh Yingling, co-owners of Goodfriend Beer Garden and Burger House.
We’ve swooned about their burgers and neighborhood bar qualities a lot here at City of Ate. Their new beer store, which is in a strip center across the street from Goodfriends on the 1100 block of Peavy Road, is being headed up by cicerone Jeff Fryman, who, per Crave DFW, recently relinquished his position at Union Bear. The store is expected to open later this year.
Based on the interview, the new retail spot will carry craft beer, including a “build-you-own-six pack” program for those who want to try a little of this and a little of that.
There won’t be any food at this new store. Nor ciggies. Nor a 12-pack of Bud, noting in the interview that they’re “not trying to compete on that level.” It’s more of a beer nerd’s joint. (And beer nerds need joints – we hear.) But, since it’s not a bar, only a retail store, there’s no drinking of the beer on the premises. So, if you’re hankering for a burger and beer right then and there, just hop across the street.
