With its quaint appearance and blue-gray siding, you wouldn't be faulted for thinking someone's grandmother resides in the Uptown bungalow that houses Crooked Tree. The comfy plush chairs and couches mixed with wood chairs on hardwood floors, the reading room with peach walls further reinforce that feeling. The only thing missing are the endless tchotchkes, though there are a few. In their place is a menu of rich, morning-pumping java, sweet smoothies, fresh pastries, sandwiches prepared in-house and vegan delights made locally. Owners Kristyn Smith and Sarah Momary's coffee shop is an ideal place to decamp when the office just won't cut it. The free wi-fi also attracts college students looking for an alternative to the library or the dorm's common room.
