Porta Di Roma

Think Italian fast food, and pizza and its inside-out cousin calzone come to mind. Porta di Roma, located on the first floor of the Wilson Building, has those in all their gooey, saucy splendor. (Both are good, big and reasonably priced.) Better still, this buffet-like restaurant serves up a wide variety of pasta dishes, cooked up fresh, fast and hot as you order. The pasta is al dente; the marinara strikes a perfect balance between sweet and acidic, and most everything on the menu is less than seven bucks. Plus, the scent of garlic sautéed in olive oil suffuses the joint, making a perfect combination downtown lunch spot and aromatherapy spa.
