The Rodeo Bar

Lauren Drewes Daniels
This bar in the bottom of the historic Adolphus Hotel was recently refurbished and reopened. It sits just across the street from the buzzing AT&T Discovery District, which makes for great window watching. They serve smashed burgers, chili and the type of bar food that was more popular some 20 years ago. In some spaces inside, the wall are covered with different pieces of memorabilia, like a ribbon from the 1975 State Fair and a retro swag from Steak and Ale. The music definitely sets a tone with old blues tunes like “Tennesse Boogie” by Zeb Turner and not-so-old blues by Justin Townes Earle (if that panged a little bit, watch this is a gem from Letterman from about 10 years ago). Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. with a $5 menu that includes their basic Rodeo Burger, queso, chili cheese fries, chili, draft beer, boilermakers, slow fashioned and house wine. Happy hour runs 4-6 p.m. Monday - Friday. You can valet at The Adolphus and they'll validate your ticket.
