4Batz, the 21-year-old R&B sensation from Dallas, has spent the better part of 2025 releasing music and getting new listeners hip to him.
Earlier this year, 4Batz won his first award for best new R&B artist at the 2025 iHeart Music Awards. While speaking on the red carpet, he told Billboard’s Tetris Kelly what he wants people to take from being introduced to his music for the first time.
"I just want them to know that I am a regular person," he said. "I know how to articulate my feelings in a way where I can put it in my music. I want them to understand that they can listen to it and vibe with it."
In 2024, 4Batz had a milestone year. During his Thank You, Jada Tour, he held a huge homecoming concert in August, bringing out surprise guests BigXThaPlug and Yella Beezy. He's had notable collaborations with Drake, Usher, Jeremih, Skilla Baby and Kanye West, all big names for a local artist who put out their first mixtape, U Made Me a St4r, within the same year.
He also holds Dallas close to his heart. In a profile with D Magazine, he shared how much the city means to him.
"I just thought Dallas was the world because I had never been out of Dallas before," he said. "And that just goes to show how much Dallas means to me because it is so big in my heart. I will always love Dallas."
On Friday, May 2, 4Batz shared a two-pack of songs, with a playful title addressing his lack of output: Since Yall Say Ion Drop Enough. The songs "Hope U Don't Mind" and "Me U & Pride" were the latest in a weeks-long drought for more 4Batz.
On Friday, June 13, 4Batz released his highly anticipated collaboration with Wale. Then on July 25, 4Batz came through with "WYA," featuring Sexyy Red.
Here are eight songs you need to hear from 4Batz right now.
1. "Roll da Dice" with Lil Baby
Lil Baby's WHAM World Tour, which came to Dallas at the American Airlines Center, is more of a reason to revisit this collaboration with 4Batz. "Roll da Dice" is classic 4Batz, a dreamy take on '90s R&B with trap elements that he's been familiar with, about taking a risk in the pursuit of love.
Ralph Canono directed the music video, which was shot in Dallas and features his friends rolling dice at a local gas station.
2. "Mortal Kombat"
"Mortal Kombat" reminds you of The Weeknd and Frank Ocean because of how similar his soaring vocals and distinctive falsetto are. The song about always fighting with your significant other is why it bears the Mortal Kombat name, knowing he's wrong in the argument but it still feels so right. A tricky line love in a toxic relationship is.
3. "N Da Morning"
4Batz has been dating Anycia, the Atlanta rapper behind "Back Outside," and the two are the most adorable couple. In "N Da Morning," the slow jam captures the blissful feeling of waking up next to your love. They share intimate moments and their on-screen chemistry is palpable. This marks the first time they appear in a music video as a couple, meeting through a mutual friend before hitting things off.
4. "Hope U Don't Mind"
The first track on Since Yall Say Ion Drop Enough is an immediate addition to your bedroom playlist. "Hope U Don't Mind" sounds like old Jeremih before the beat switches to a slowed-down version that sounds straight out of Houston. A lot of DJs are doing slowed and reverb mixes these days and this is right on brand.
5. "Me U & Pride"
The second track is for the strip clubs. "Me U & Pride" is about how far his stripper is willing to go before she swallows her pride. In the right setting, this song could see many money showers by patrons.
6. “L4VE SONG”
4Batz is one featured on Vault.fm, a direct-to-fan streaming platform that allows artists to connect with their fans judgment-free and share exclusive music and behind-the-scenes content. His first release, “L4VE SONG,” has a catchy, early 2000s R&B feel as Batz sings he doesn’t want to write a love song about a woman. He wants to hook up with no strings attached. He needs to drop this ASAP.
Listen here on Vault.
7. “When I Get Home” feat. Wale
Summertime usually means a lot of R&B parties, and we anticipate this one will get a lot of spins during them. 4Batz sets the mood from the beginning, putting all his attention on his woman because daddy’s back home. “Do you remember the last thing you said to me? / Fuck you and them hoes with you ‘allegedly’ / You don’t give me credit / Just let it be / It’s not I’m on, it’s you that I want,” he sings. He gets blog-era legend Wale for a feature, who is having a run of good songs lately with “Ghetto Speak” and “Blanco.” If you’re a diehard Wale fan, you know Wale is the king of making songs for the ladies, heard on “Bad” and “Lotus Flower Bomb.” Here, Wale delivers a heartfelt verse and then slows it down. It's so damn smooth. 8. “WYA” feat. Sexyy Red
You hit up Sexyy Red if you want to dance and turn up. After appearing on a remix of Pluto's "Whim Whamiee" and Central Cee's "Guilt Trippin," she adds her raunchiness to 4Batz' "WYA." 4Batz gets explicit in his lyrics, and it's another certified strip club anthem for all the boys and girls to rally behind.
