The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $12,500 by August 9.
When Conway Twitty sang, “Don’t call him a cowboy till you’ve seen him ride,” we took it to heart. So it is with some reluctance that we recommend a Cowboy Troy performance. The rapping hick-hop artist dresses the part, for sure. (On tour with Tim McGraw last year, the two could have battled for biggest belt buckle.) But can you really call the former Foot Locker manager a cowboy? See for yourself when Troy Coleman returns to Dallas for a show at the State Fair. He may “play chicken with the train” (whatever that means), but if he wants us to call him “Cowboy,” he’d better be ready to prove it. ‘Cause if he ain’t good in the saddle…well, you know how that goes.
