On Thursday, April 3, just three nights before beloved Dallasite Annie Clark performs her first hometown concert in years, Meow Wolf in Grapevine will host a St. Vincent-inspired take on its weekly Adulti-Verse event.
“The worlds of immersive art and genre-bending sound will collide for an unforgettable night,” reads a press release for the event. “This themed takeover transforms The Real Unreal into a celebration of music, mystery, and Texas flair—with the art of St. Vincent’s unique creative fingerprint guiding the party.”
It’s hard to think of a musician from Dallas more fitting for such a mind-bending endeavor. The Polyphonic Spree comes to mind, given the group’s expansive sound and recent dive into experimental film, but as many of you are undoubtedly aware, that makes sense. For a short time before her St. Vincent project was born, Clark was a member of the Spree.
Meow Wolf has only been in Grapevine since July 2023, so it’s commendable that this collaboration is happening so soon into the trippy, interactive attraction’s existence.
“We’re honored to collaborate with a boundary-pushing artist like St. Vincent for this one-night-only edition of Adulti-Verse,” said Meow Wolf Grapevine General Manager Jamie Weaver-Garia in the press release. “Her unique music and storytelling perfectly align with Meow Wolf’s immersive, genre-defying experiences. This event celebrates her bold sound and Texas roots while giving guests a new way to explore The Real Unreal with music, art, and a few surprises along the way.”
Since the release of her stellar LP All Born Screaming in June, Clark has been as busy as ever. Not only did she release a Spanish-language version of the record, but she picked up three Grammy trophies in February for the record, including the prize for Best Alternative Album. The night she accepted the awards, Clark also revealed that she was married and the mother of a young daughter.
Meow Wolf’s Adulti-Verse is a weekly event for guests 21 and up. Among the offerings that will make this week’s edition a unique one include a curated playlist by St. Vincent, featuring a celebration of Texas artists and deep musical cuts, a music video dance party featuring St. Vincent’s videos, as well as custom cocktails and themed treats available for purchase.
