CBS’ new show The Road premiered on Sunday, Oct. 19 and it features North Texas artist Billie Jo Jones.
The premise of the show is Keith Urban takes 12 emerging musicians on the road with him for real-life experience in touring. They’ll compete as opening acts for Urban and the live audience decides who gets to move on to the next city in the competition.
The Road is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, Blake Shelton, David Glasser, Lee Metzger and Urban. Urban serves as the series’ headlining star and is joined by Grammy Award winner Gretchen Wilson, who acts as the tour manager for the series.
In an interview with CBS Texas, the 34-year-old said, “I’ve done several other music, singing competitions, TV shows, and this one is hands down going to be something really remarkable. This show, you get to see behind the scenes, you get to see us on the tour bus. You get to see us freaking out backstage, crying. You know, all the things that happened on the show. There’s a lot of drama. Like good drama. There’s a lot of drama.”
Billie Jo Jones has been performing locally in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Recently, she performed during the State Fair of Texas at the Go Texan Pavillion on Oct. 4.
