"I wanted this music video to feel like a cinematic memory—loose and intimate, but a bit clandestine," says "Elegantly Wasted" video director Matt Muir. Jackie Lee Young

The Ecuadorian-Swiss duo Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez have emerged as some of contemporary music's most popular instrumentalists. They join the ranks of the Middle Eastern-inspired Glass Beams and the psychedelic chill of Khruangbin, who are no strangers to Bridges features.

Hermanos Gutiérrez have previously brought their Latin soul sound to Bridges' tours, opening for him on a run of shows last year. Now, they officially have a recorded collaboration, which also marks the duo's first English-language song.

"We've always been fans of Leon's style and his way of approaching music. When we were in Nashville together last November, we had a window of maybe four hours before our show at the Ryman that night, but managed to finish a song we'd been working on for months," the duo said in a press release. "Leon showed up, and he heard the track for the first time at the studio together with Dan Auerbach, the whole team of Easy Eye Sound and Leon's crew. He took a microphone, and he just started to sing a melody over it. It sounded like an angel. We all expected him to crush it with his first note, and he did. And he wasn't even singing lyrics; he was just singing whatever felt natural. It was such an incredible moment, and then he got together with Dan, and they wrote the lyrics."

The music video for "Elegantly Wasted," directed by Texan Matt Muir, was filmed almost entirely inside the Texas Theatre, where keen Dallasites will notice the many memorable corners of the iconic theatre that the three explore, including the upstairs lounge, lobby bar and even the theater's main stage, as projections of an idyllic American western front are displayed behind them.
