This year, the Old Settler’s Music Festival takes place, as it always does, at Salt Lick Pavilion & Camp Ben McCulloch, just south of Austin, from Thursday, April 15, through Sunday, April 18. It’s an event that’s always heavily tilted towards acts that land securely in the alt-country and/or Americana categories–which is pretty good thing when you consider the rural surroundings of the festival itself.
Anyhow, I looked over the list of bands and Brave Combo appears to be the only Dallas area band making the trek southbound. There are some great acts in the line up: Alison Brown, Ruthie Foster-Hill, Alejandro Escovedo, Joe Ely, Fred Eaglesmith, Buddy Miller, The Gourds and many others. Just not a lot of Dallas flavor in the mix.
Eleven Hundred Springs would seem to be one glaring omission. Any others? Check the complete schedule after the jump.
